Meet Betty

 

Betty Harbolic, MS, RDN, BCC, has dedicated her career to helping people understand their bodies, navigate health changes, and take control of their well-being.

She is the founder of FitsMe Health®, where she works privately with clients to provide personalized, expert guidance that helps them make sense of health changes and take practical steps that fit their life.


For over two decades, Betty led Manhattan’s longest-running weight loss and wellness program, collaborating on NIH-funded and industry-supported clinical trials published in leading medical journals. She has been featured in national media, including WebMD, CBS, NBC, and ABC, and has presented at national conferences.


Known for her ability to make complex science clear and relevant, Betty's expertise bridges nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and behavior change—always with a focus on what works in real life.


Professional Background:

  • Founder, FitsMe Health (2019–Present): Created and lead an independent health education platform and private coaching practice delivering evidence-based guidance and personalized wellness strategies for adults navigating health change and aging.


  • Director, The New York Obesity Research Center Weight Loss Program, Mount Sinai  Morningside (2000–2022): Designed and led one of Manhattan’s longest-running  weight loss programs.


  • Medical Writer, WebMD (2012–2022): Authored research-based health and wellness articles for national publication


  • Co-Principal  Investigator, Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Treatment Trial (2010–2016): Developed and implemented a successful lifestyle intervention for national NIH clinical trial.


  • Adjunct Faculty (2003–2007): Taught undergraduate nutrition courses at two colleges.

 

  • National Grant Coordinator, Centers for Obesity Research and Education (C.O.R.E.) (2001-2005): Coordinated continuing medical education programs to train healthcare professionals in the treatment of overweight and obesity.


  • Lifestyle Coach, Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) (1998-2000): Delivered behavioral and nutrition counseling for landmark NIH diabetes prevention study.


  • Specialty Clinic Dietitian, Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center (1997-2000) Provided medical nutrition therapy for outpatient HIV and oncology clinics.

Betty has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including JAMA, Neurology, and Obesity. Her research focuses on weight management, lifestyle interventions, and clinical nutrition.
